As we prepare for our public beta release we are moving into the Microsoft Store. With this release you will be migrated into a new version of our app, which is distributed through the Microsoft Store. If all goes well, you won’t even notice this change. There is a brand new way to set shortcuts for your favourite commands and apps and you can do it all without ever leaving Root Search! The existing “Configure Command” action is now a submenu which exposes further actions that let you set an alias or a hotkey directly from the Action Panel.

Open Raycast and find the app or command you want to configure. Then press Ctrl K to open the Action Panel and search for the “Configure Application/Command…” action. From there, you can set your desired alias or hotkey. Next time you can simply press Ctrl Shift , to set your shortcuts even faster.

Find and launch your favorite games with our new Games extension. Automatically detects games from Steam, Epic, GOG, Battle.net, EA, Ubisoft Connect and Itch.io. Simple type "game" to see all of your titles.

The Keyboard Shortcut infrastructure has been revamped to support more shortcut types and multiple keyboard layouts. The User Interface for setting shortcuts has also been updated to allow for greater interaction. You can now differentiate between left, right, or any modifier; change the targeted keys to make them layout-dependent or independent; and support double-tap modifier shortcuts.

Please note that we are migrating your hotkey data into a new data structure. While we have tried to cover all edge cases, there is a possibility that some hotkey information may be lost. We are also aware some users are experiencing issues with software that creates virtual key presses or modifies keyboard state. This update doesn’t resolve those problems, but we are investigating them.

We are happy to introduce a new and faster file system indexer for Windows. By enabling this feature, you can enjoy faster indexing of your local NTFS drives. Other drives will be indexed with the default indexer.

You can enable it via Settings > File Search > Use Fast File Scanner.

Please note that enabling or disabling this feature requires administrator privileges.
